What Does Microdermabrasion Do?

Last updated 1 year ago

In addition to helping products absorb better, exfoliation also brightens the skin by sloughing away dead skin cells. If your skin looks dull, damaged or blotchy, talk to your dermatologist about microdermabrasion, an in-office procedure that deeply exfoliates the skin for a smoother, more polished appearance. Watch a dermatologist perform a microdermabrasion demonstration in the video below.

By gently removing the top layers of dead skin, microdermabrasion helps to reveal more radiant, even skin. The treatment can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including sun damage, discoloration, acne, and even fine lines and wrinkles. During the treatment, your dermatologist will use fine particles to sand and buff the skin, removing abnormal cells and opening up the pores for a deeper cleansing. After the treatment, which usually lasts between 20 and 30 minutes, patients are free to return to their regular activities without any downtime.
